New Employees Welcomed and Encouraged to Enhance their Skills.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), urged employees who recently joined the NAO, to develop their experience, refine their skills and make use of available training programs for their own advancement, but also for advancing the NAO’s work and the audit profession in general.

During his virtual meeting with new NAO employees this morning, he emphasized the need to learn the practices and procedures governing the work of the Bureau with a focus on internationally approved standards, especially those issued by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), which form the basis of the NAO’s work and the preparation of its reports.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed welcomed the new employees and wished them every success in their professional endeavours. He highlighted the importance of investing in human capital and national competencies and stressed the continuing improvement of the work environment to raise employees’ performance and to enable them to thoroughly carry out their tasks.

The NAO pays great attention to train its employees and raise their technical and professional capabilities. It offers a professional development programme for its staff to obtain one of the internationally accredited professional qualifications in the field of auditing and accounting, such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant). About 43 employees benefited from this programme until the first quarter of this year (2021).

Over 96% of employees at the NAO are Bahrainis, about 45% of its staff are female, 70% are technical staff and 51% have professional qualifications.

The virtual meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Deputy Auditor General for Administrative Audit, His Excellency Mr. Fayeq Ali Dhaif, Deputy Auditor General for Financial and Performance Audit, Mr. Mohamed Amin Hulaiwah, Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation, and Ms. Aysha Ahmed Adam, Director of Human and Financial Resources.
