The National Audit Office believes that its most important resource is its human capital. Therefore, one of the NAO’s main priorities is to invest in human capacity building by providing continuous training to its staff based on actual training needs.
The NAO's training process is based on a general framework that defines the level of technical and behavioural capacities in order to determine the individual training needs of its employees. The training process is linked to the employee’s performance appraisal process and career development.

Given the specialized nature of the NAO’s work and the expertise of its senior staff, the NAO mostly uses its employees who have been certified as trainers by the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) to provide internal audit training programmes.
In addition, the NAO participates in many training programs, forums and conferences held by international and regional organizations of supreme audit institutions such as the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), and the Gulf Cooperation Council Accounting and Auditing Organization (GCCAAO) as well as individual Supreme Audit Institutions.
The NAO is dedicated to advance the professional and technical capacity of its employees and runs a development programme for its staff to obtain internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting, such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant).
The NAO is proud that its focus on the professional development of its staff has resulted in more than 51% (as of June 2020) of its technical audit employees holding a professional qualification.
