Manama – National Audit Office:

A group of National Audit Office (NAO) employees participated in two training courses on enhancing skills of a professional auditor conducted by Ernst & Young (EY) and presented by British expert Mr. Graham Chambers, who has more than 30 years of experience and has provided a range of courses in different countries and sectors around the world.

These courses complement the NAO's efforts to develop the expertise of its employees in cooperation with training institutions specialized in behavioural skills. The training focussed on the development of strategic and creative thinking skills, supervisory skills, team management, the characteristics of an excellent supervisor to manage a high-performance team, effective communication to enhance mutual understanding with other parties, teamwork, motivation, inspiration, prioritization and adaptation to changes.

In addition, the two courses examined the basic skills and characteristics of a good and bad leader, decision-making, conflict management, negotiation, active listening, critical thinking, empowerment, trust, innovation, positivity, flexibility and how to lead by example.

A case study was used to understand the difference between a team leader and a team manager, leading high-performing teams and measuring the extent to which participants understand the qualities of a good leader.
