The National Audit Office (NAO) held two training courses as part of the "Capacity Building and Enhancement of Skills and Experience in Forensic Audit" program, which it had launched in cooperation with global firm Kroll earlier this year.

The first course discussed investigative interview techniques with focus on ways to build relationships, conduct interviews and indirect interrogations. The second course dealt with work paper design, forensic reporting and evidencing, collection and analysis of evidence, and investigative report writing skills.

The two webinars were attended by 45 employees from the NAO and other relevant authorities.

These webinars were part of a series of training courses on Forensic Auditing organized consecutively by the NAO with the aim of enabling employees to employ the skills acquired in preparing specialized reports, strengthening cooperation and partnership with the entities subject to the NAO’s audit, providing added value to stakeholders, and achieving the NAO’s strategic objectives leading to improved services for Bahrain’s citizens.

According to its training plan, the NAO had approved 6 courses related to Forensic Auditing, which were launched on the 14th of July 2021 and covered the following topics: Overview on Forensic Auditing, Forensic Accounting/Auditing and Financial Crimes, Sourcing of Information and Data Analysis, Data Collection, Extraction and Processing, Forensic Email Review Techniques, Investigative Interview Techniques, Work Paper Design and Maintenance, Forensic Reporting and Evidencing.

According to its law, Forensic Audit is part of the NAO’s audit mandate and is aimed at detecting administrative and financial fraud and corruption.
