Auditing the health sector.

A training program was launched at the National Audit Office (NAO) this morning which was attended by group of auditors from the State Audit Institution of the Sultanate of Oman and which discussed the methodology used in auditing the health sector.

The two-day program, which comes within the framework of cooperation and coordination between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman in the audit field, introduces participants to the concept of the health system, the types of services provided by its affiliated institutions, the most important associated risks, the procedures and mechanisms for evaluating the performance of the health sector and other related technical matters.

Mr. Qassim Ahmed Almadhoob, Assistant Auditor General - Performance Audit, welcomed the participants of the training program and stressed the importance of cooperation, enhancing joint work and exchanging experiences between SAIs. He hoped that all participants gained the desired benefit from the training program and wished them a pleasant stay in Bahrain.

He explained that the NAO followed an advanced approach in implementing audit tasks using modern technical tools and automated systems while following the international standards issued by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and best international practices in this field.

The course was presented by Ms. Huda Ali Buheji, Director - Performance Audit, Mr. Maitham Saeed, Director - Information Systems Audit, and Ms. Zahraa Hassan Al-Mezaal, Audit Manager at the Performance Audit Directorate.
