Royal Court Minister receives the National Audit Office’s annual report for the professional year 2022 - 2023

On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, H.E. the Minister of the Royal Court, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, has received the 20th annual report from the National Audit Office (NAO) for the professional year 2022/2023.

H.E. the Minister of the Royal Court praised the NAO’s role, the efforts of its employees and its achievements in preserving public funds and verifying their proper management and the legitimacy of their spending by applying the highest standards of professionalism and transparency.

H.E. noted that the NAO performed its responsibilities while guarding the independence of its work as part of the comprehensive development project under His Majesty the King to raise productivity levels and efficiency, and ensure the optimal use of resources, thus enhancing the level of services for the benefit of the nation.

For his part, the NAO Auditor General, H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, said that the NAO's development and progress since its inception is due to the continuous support, sound guidance and generous patronage from His Majesty the King, and the diligent follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

During the meeting, H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed reviewed the NAO’s future programmes and development plans, especially regarding raising the efficiency of its employees, enhancing its capabilities, digital transformation, effective use of technology, expanding its audit work to include information systems audit, cybersecurity and others.

H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed pointed out that the audit work carried out by the NAO covered various economic, social and service sectors. He explained that the report included essential observations and recommendations reached by the work teams resulting from their audit work completed during the professional year 2022/2023.

He pointed out that during the past professional year, 106 audit tasks were completed, 160 reports were issued in addition to 1127 recommendations and 109 follow-up reports to ensure that the entities subject to the NAO’s audit implement the recommendations received in previous years.
