NAO Employees Participate in Regional and International Training Courses and Workshops

Pursuant to the training plan for the professional year 2025/2026

Manama – National Audit Office:

During the past period, NAO employees enrolled in various regional and international training courses as part of the approved training plan for the professional year 2025/2026.

Noora Khaled Mohammed Althawadi, Senior Auditor at the Regularity Audit Department, participated in a training course on Financial Sector Supervision (FSS), organized by the Capacity Development Institute of the Arab Monetary Fund (ICD-AMF) in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund's Center for Economics and Finance in the Middle East (IMF-CEF).

The course introduced participants to the most important concepts and tools used in identifying and assessing vulnerabilities and sources of strength in the financial sector, and the basic tools for assessing and measuring the risks surrounding the sector against capital margins and protective liquidity in the financial system.

The course, held in Abu Dhabi, measured the key risks facing banking institutions such as credit, markets, finance, and related capital and protective liquidity margins from the perspective of financial system stability, including designing and implementing tests to withstand underlying solvency and liquidity pressures and interpreting their results.

It also discussed how to monitor the accumulation of systemic risks and risks associated with credit, real estate prices, leverage, balance sheet mismatches, interlinkages, and other related topics.

Fakhriya Hassan Ali Sarhan, Audit Manager at the Administrative Audit Department, participated in an international workshop on "Auditing the Renewable Energy Sector" organized by the International Center for Environmental Auditing and Sustainable Development (iCED) and the Environmental Audit Working Group of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI WGEA) in Jaipur, Republic of India.

The workshop included enhancing the capacities of participants in the renewable energy sector in terms of identifying the most important policies and technologies, while exchanging international experiences in assessing the efficiency and sustainability of these projects.

Colleagues Sheikha Latifa bint Khalid Alkhalifa - Senior Auditor at the Regularity Audit Department, and Mohamed Hisham Mohamed Althawadi - Assistant Auditor at the Regularity Audit Department, attended a training program on "Transformation to the Accrual Basis Accounting" organized by the General Audit Office of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

The program, which was held via video conference, aimed to familiarize participants with the concepts, stages and requirements of the transition from cash basis to accrual basis accounting, and to provide them with the necessary knowledge to efficiently implement this transformation in government entities to enhance transparency and the quality of financial reporting.

In addition, the program reviewed the concept, objectives, stages, methodology, pros and cons of the transformation, its technical requirements, the mechanisms for preparing opening balances, accounting record-keeping, change management, and the conceptual framework for financial reporting and financial statement elements.
