Manama – The National Audit Office:

The National Audit Office (NAO), in cooperation with Ernst & Young (EY), organized training courses on "International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their developments", for technical and managerial staff. Whilst the technical staff learnt about recent IFRS updates and how to analyse financial reports from an audit perspective illustrated by practical cases, management staff looked in depth at complex areas of financial reporting, its standards and their developments.

These courses come within the framework of implementing the approved training plans for the professional year (2024/2025) and ensuring compliance with international standards. The NAO informs its employees on an annual basis of the latest developments in these standards to ensure continued professionalism and high quality audit work.

The courses were attended by about 37 employees from various technical departments of the NAO and was conducted by Mr. Hossam Negm, a business administration consultant and trainer specialized in the field of accounting and finance, holding several professional certificates (MBA, CPA, CIPA, CMAS, DipIFR, CertIFR, CertIA, CertIPSAS, CertPFM).

The courses aimed to familiarize and provide technical staff with the tools to understand the latest updates in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as the basics of commonly used standards and how to analyse financial reports from an audit perspective.

In addition, they provided managerial staff with methods for an in-depth understanding of complex areas in financial reporting, with a focus on investment-related accounting standards such as financial instruments, financial statement consolidation and other related standards.
