The National Audit Office (NAO) participated in the Third Gulf Symposium on "Adopting Modern Technologies in Auditing Work" organized by the General Audit Bureau in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and held in Riyadh.
The seminar comes within the framework of the implementation of the training plan for employees of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which was approved by the Heads of the SAIs.
The seminar was attended by Mr. Maitham Saeed Abdulnabi, Information Systems Audit Director, and Mr. Salman Ahmed Albusmait, Information Systems Audit Supervisor at the National Audit Office in Bahrain. Participants reviewed modern auditing techniques and their role in enhancing efficiency, automation solutions, and the challenges facing SAIs.
Furthermore, the seminar focussed on modern auditing best practices such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, financial patterns, and how to shift from traditional auditing to automated auditing.
In addition, related topics were discussed, such as the use of machine learning techniques in detecting financial irregularities, analysing unusual financial patterns to enhance governance, how to benefit from big data analysis to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of audits and their role in predicting financial risks, automation solutions used in regulators and practical cases from member states.
In conclusion, participants reviewed the challenges and opportunities in adopting modern technologies, the regulatory and legislative obstacles they face, and opportunities to develop digital work environments that support effective audit work.
