Auditor General: Continuing to advance the professional and technical capabilities of employees.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), stressed the NAO's keenness to develop the capabilities of its employees and support them to obtain globally recognized professional qualifications, which was reflected in the level of performance and services provided.

This came when His Excellency received this morning Mr. Hasan Saleh Shehab, auditor at the Regularity Audit Directorate, congratulating him on obtaining his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification and wishing him further success in his career.

The CMA is granted by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) in the United States of America and is an advanced and globally acknowledged professional certification credential.

His Excellency added that the NAO would continue to invest in human cadres and national competencies through training, development and advancement of their professional and technical capabilities.

The NAO is dedicated to training its employees and strengthening their professional and technical capabilities through projects and programmes that comply with the international audit standards issued by the International Organization for Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

It runs a professional development program via a scholarship system for its staff to obtain one of the internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA, (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant). Until August 2022, the NAO counted 42 technical employees with professional qualifications amongst its staff, which constitutes 45% of the NAO’s technical employees.

For his part, Hasan Saleh Shehab expressed his delight with his achievement, praising the support provided by the NAO which had enabled him to obtain this important qualification. He indicated that he would continue to enhance his skills and further strengthen his technical and professional expertise.

Hasan holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Bahrain and joined the NAO in 2020.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Fayeq Ali Dhaif, Deputy Auditor General - Financial and Performance Audit, and Mr. Majeed Makki, Assistant Auditor General - Regularity Audit.
