Auditor General congratulates NAO employee Othman Farhan on his CIA certification

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), received in his office this morning NAO employee Othman Farhan and congratulated him on qualifying as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in the United States of America and wished him further success in his career.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed stressed that investing in the development of human cadres and national competencies was vital for institutions to be successful and explained that development and training not only included NAO employees but also staff from the entities covered by the NAO’s audit mandate.

The NAO Bureau pays great attention to providing ongoing training and professional qualification courses for its employees through projects and programmes that comply with the international audit standards issued by the International Organization for Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), in order to strengthen their professional and technical capacities.

where the number of technical employees with professional qualifications until July 2022 is about 41 employees out of the total 95 technical employees, or 43%.

The NAO runs a professional development program via a scholarship system for its staff to obtain one of the internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA, (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant). Until July 2022, 41 employees, or 43%, out of 95 technical employees hold professional qualifications.

Othman Farhan expressed his delight with his achievement, and praised the support provided by the NAO which enabled him to obtain this important qualification. He indicated that he would continue to enhance his skills and further strengthen his professional and technical expertise.

Farhan, who holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Bahrain, joined the NAO in 2017 as an assistant auditor and advanced to senior auditor.

The meeting was attended by HE Mr. Fayeq Dhaif, Deputy Auditor General Financial and Performance Audit, and Mr. Majeed Makki, Assistant Auditor General Regularity Audit.
