Manama – National Audit Office (NAO):

The Professional Standards Committee of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) discussed the list of proposed Arabic terms for use in the translation of professional standards issued by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and prepared by the National Audit Office (NAO) in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In addition, the meeting approved a working paper on "The Need for a Guideline for the Control of Artificial Intelligence Systems" which was prepared by the NAO, and which is to be submitted to the Steering Committee of the Professional Standards Committee (PSC) of INTOSAI for discussion during its next meeting.

The paper focuses on the need for a guideline for SAIs to enable them to control AI systems considering the expansion of their use at government level.

Furthermore, the meeting, which was held in Tunis from 13 to 16 October 2025, reviewed the operational plan of the committee for 2026-2027, and the progress report of the operational plan for 2024-2025.

The meeting was attended by a representative of the NAO of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Ahmed Buti, Director of the Regularity Audit Department, and representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Arab Republic of Egypt (Chairman of the Committee), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Iraq.

Since 2022, the NAO has been serving as the Vice Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee of ARABOSAI and has been a member of INTOSAI’s PSC Steering Committee as a representative of ARABOSAI since 2005.
