Royal Court Minister receives the National Audit Office’s annual report for the professional year 2024 - 2025

On behalf of His Majesty The King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, H.E. the Minister of the Royal Court, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, has received the 22nd annual report from the National Audit Office (NAO) for the professional year 2024/2025.

H.E. the Minister of the Royal Court praised the NAO’s role, the efforts of its employees and its achievements in preserving public funds and verifying their proper management and the legitimacy of their spending by applying the highest standards of professionalism and transparency.

H.E. noted that the NAO performed its responsibilities while guarding the independence of its work as part of the comprehensive development project under His Majesty the King to raise productivity levels and efficiency, and ensure the optimal use of resources, thus enhancing the level of services for the benefit of the nation.

For his part, H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Auditor General of the National Audit Office, said that the development and growth achieved by the NAO since its establishment is due to the continuous support, sound guidance, and generous care it receives from His Majesty the King, and the keen follow-up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

During the meeting, H.E. the Auditor General reviewed the future development plans and programs of the NAO, particularly those related to improving employee efficiency, strengthening institutional capacities, digital transformation, and the effective use of technology, as well as expanding the provision of audit services, especially modern ones such as information systems audit, cybersecurity, and others.

He noted that the audit work carried out by the NAO covered various economic, social, and service sectors, explaining that the report included the key observations and recommendations reached by the working groups through the audit work they carried out during the past professional year.

He stated that during the past professional year, 104 audit tasks were completed, resulting in the issuance of 84 reports, in addition to 104 follow-up reports aimed at ensuring that the entities subject to it's audit implemented the recommendations made in previous years. The NAO also issued approximately 1,224 recommendations.

During the 2024/2025 professional year, the NAO followed up on the implementation of the recommendations contained in its previous reports, and the follow-up operations verified that the entities subject to its audit had implemented (or begun to implement) 84.9% of the recommendations.
