The National Audit Office (NAO) familiarized a group of diplomats from various member countries of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue with its audit mandate and its audit work as part of a hospitality programme organized by the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies (MBMA) which coincided with the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the current session of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue.

Muath Abdulghaffar, Audit Manager at the Regulatory Audit Directorate, Maryam Ebrahim Taleb, Audit Supervisor at the Administrative Audit Directorate, and Zainab Hamid Jaafar, Audit Supervisor at the Performance Audit Directorate, gave an overview of the NAO’s establishment, its functions and tasks, the entities subject to its audit, and the professional organizations to which it is affiliated.

In addition, they described the audit types conducted by the NAO, its audit work methodology, its audit reports and the stages and methods of their preparation. They further explained how the NAO ensured that audited entities implemented its recommendations to enhance spending efficiency and to improve the level of services provided to Bahrain’s citizens.

They referred to the positive approach adopted by the NAO when carrying out its tasks and preparing its reports, and to the regulations, manuals and standards governing its work. On top of that, they highlighted the NAO’s dedication in training its employees to enhance their technical, professional and administrative capabilities, and making them aware of developments in the audit profession. They also pointed to the NAO’s development programme for its employees to obtain internationally accredited Professional qualifications in auditing and accounting.

The "Diyafa" program, launched by the MBMA, and which was part of the government innovation competition (FIKRA) in 2018, aims to host international diplomats to strengthen bilateral relations between Bahrain and other countries by introducing them to Bahrain’s history, its comprehensive development and its political and economic achievements.
