Manama – National Audit Office:
The National Audit Office (NAO) in the Kingdom of Bahrain presented an initiative highlighting the role of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) in preparing professional standards and guidelines within the framework of the professional publications and directives of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
The initiative includes the preparation of a guide on the control of artificial intelligence systems in audited entities. The ARABOSAI Professional Standards Committee agreed to conduct a preliminary study of the project and submit recommendations showing the need for such a manual to the INTOSAI Professional Standards Committee.
This came during the 23rd meeting of the Professional Standards Committee of ARABOSAI held recently in the Republic of Tunisia with participation from the National Audit Office represented by Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Buti, Regularity Audit Director, and Ms. Abrar Hassan Alsaegh, Audit Supervisor at the Regularity Audit Directorate.
At the meeting, the NAO was requested to prepare a webinar on documenting audit work electronically, given the NAO's experience in this field.
The meeting discussed the mechanism for the implementation and follow-up of the strategic plan proposed by the ARABOSAI General Secretariat, and associated challenges and difficulties.
It is noteworthy that the NAO has been the Vice Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee of ARABOSAI since October 2022.It is chaired by the Arab Republic of Egypt and includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq and Morocco.
Since 2005, the NAO has also been a member of the Supervisory Committee of the Professional Standards Committee (PSC) as a representative of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI).
