Representatives from ARABOSAI meet in Saudi Arabia.

The National Audit Office (NAO) participated in the consultative meeting of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) on the preparation of the organization's strategic plan for the period 2023-2028, which was hosted in Riyadh by the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Suhail Sakhnini, Director Regularity Audit, and Aysha Adam, Director Human and Financial Resources, represented the NAO at this meeting which was also attended by representatives from member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), ARABOSAI’s General Secretariat and INTOSAI’s Development Initiative (IDI).

The attendees were briefed on the implementation stages of the current strategic plan (2018-2023), the goals achieved, initiatives and projects as well as the main problems which prevented the implementation of some strategies.

They discussed the procedures of the Strategic Planning Committee for collecting information and learning about the experience of other organizations such as INTOSAI, EUROSAI and AFROSAI when preparing their strategic plans.

Furthermore, they reviewed the general framework of the new strategic plan (vision, mission, principles, values, implementation methodology) and determined the organization’s priorities and objectives for the next period.

At the meeting, the results of the global survey conducted by INTOSAI on the performance of ARABOSAI were presented, showing some areas of improvement, such as reviewing guidelines, updating audit methodology in accordance with approved standards, supporting follow-up of audit work results, and how to benefit from the results when developing the new strategic plan.

The meeting also reviewed the steps taken by the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to support the efforts of member organizations in confronting the Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic during the year 2020 and its achievements.
