Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with the Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), HE Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who presented a forensic audit report on non-compliances within the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, at Gudaibiya Palace.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister reviewed the forensic audit report submitted by the NAO’s Auditor General, and stressed the importance of further strengthening accountability and responsibility across government workstreams.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad additionally noted the importance of upholding the principles of integrity and professionalism across the public sector to preserve public funds.

His Royal Highness highlighted the NAO’s role in promoting best practice in the safeguarding of public funds.

His Royal Highness then directed the non-compliances for onward referral to the Public Prosecution, to take the necessary action needed in the public interest. His Royal Highness further directed to intensify forensic audit reports and internal auditing within government, to ensure the integrity of public sector agencies and to safeguard public funds.

For hist part, HE Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness and commended efforts to support the NAO in safeguarding public funds.

The Deputy Prime Minister, HE Jawad Salem Al Arrayed, the Minister of Interior, HE General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and the Minister of Finance and National Economy, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, also attended the meeting.
