Manama – National Audit Office:
H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), met with H.E. Parliament Speaker Mr. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam and handed over the NAO’s 22nd annual report for the year 2024/2025.
H.E. the Auditor General pointed out that the annual report included 104 completed audit tasks, resulting in 84 issued reports, in addition to 104 follow-up reports to verify the implementation of previous recommendations. He added that approximately 1,224 recommendations were issued.
During the 2024/2025 professional year, the NAO’s follow-up efforts confirmed that audited entities had implemented or started implementing 84.9% of the recommendations included in previous reports, an increase of 0.2% compared to the previous professional year.
H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa stressed that the NAO had followed a positive approach in accomplishing its tasks, based on partnership and cooperation with the audited entities and in line with best practice and professional standards.
He pointed out that the support from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the entities covered by the NAO’s audit mandate to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and observations in the NAO reports, enabled the NAO to perform its duties efficiently.
In addition, H.E. the Auditor General stressed that the NAO would continue to perform its duties entrusted to it by law and in line with the national interest, while continuing to train and develop the capabilities of its employees, develop technical, organizational, technological and legal aspects, and follow up on the latest international auditing and accounting standards and practices.
At the meeting both sides discussed enhancing cooperation and coordination in auditing and strengthening the principles of integrity, honesty and professionalism in accordance with international standards to contribute to achieving the goals of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa expressed his thanks and appreciation to H.E the Parliament Speaker and members of parliament for their attention to the reports, their follow-up on the observations and recommendations issued by the NAO, and their significant role in supporting the national interest.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Mr. Fayeq Ali Dhaif, Deputy Auditor General of the NAO for Financial and Performance Audit and senior officials from the NAO.
