Employees at the National Audit Office (NAO) continued to enhance their professional and technical capabilities in various specialized fields, through training courses and workshops held by reputable local, regional and international bodies.

This comes as part of implementing the training plan for the professional year 2023/2024 which aims to enhance and develop the technical capabilities of employees in specialized fields, review best practices, and stay up-to-date with relevant developments in those fields to add value to the NAO’s audit work output.

Recently, NAO staff participated in a series of training programs on "risk management" held by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) and others.

These programs aimed to enhance the capabilities of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in risk-based auditing, identify the risks of electronic data operation, demonstrate how to detect fraud methods in accordance with international standards for crisis management and business continuity, review best practices in this field and facilitate the exchange of experiences between SAIs.

Employees from the NAO attended a training program entitled "The Risks of Electronic Operation of Data and How to Detect Fraud and Corruption" held by ARABOSAI and hosted by the General Audit Bureau in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The program examined how to acquire new skills in auditing information systems, reviewed modern means, mechanisms and techniques in this field and the requirements for the security and protection of electronic data operation in accordance with international standards and best practices. It aimed at strengthening professional and technical capabilities to detect fraud and corruption in information systems.

In addition, the course explained the most important tools and means used in the field of data analysis to detect fraud and corruption areas and presented the experiences of the participating agencies in auditing information systems.
