The Professional Standards Committee (PSC) of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) has elected the National Audit Office (NAO) of the Kingdom of Bahrain as vice-chairman of the committee.

The NAO is represented in this position by Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Buti, Audit Manager at the Regularity Audit Directorate, who was chosen by acclamation by the committee members during a recent meeting.

"The NAO was chosen by representatives of the committee's member states because of its capabilities and expertise, as well as its role and contributions related to professional standards at the international level,“ Buti said.

He added, "With the Kingdom of Bahrain as Vice-Chairman of the committee we aspire to contribute to the quality of its work and achieve its goals in advancing the auditing profession and developing and raising the level of professional standards in line with global developments."

The new committee consists of representatives from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Iraq, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Palestine and is chaired by the representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Buti pointed out that during its meeting, the committee, after taking into account the interventions and observations of member states, approved its operational plan and projects for the next three years.

The PSC of ARABOSAI was formed in 2008, and aims to contribute to the development of professional auditing standards and guidelines for their application, updating them in accordance with global developments and supporting member states in implementing these standards.

Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Buti is a member of the Global Professional Knowledge Group (GPKG) of the Institute of Internal Auditors in the United States of America serving as a subject matter expert (SME), and he is also a member of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Master of Accounting Program at the University of Bahrain.
