H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General at the National Audit Office (NAO), received in his office this morning Mr. Isa Bashook - Senior Auditor at the Regulatory Audit Directorate, and Ms. Marwa Husain - Senior Auditor at the Performance Audit Directorate, on the occasion of obtaining their CIA qualification awarded by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
H.E. congratulated the two colleagues on their achievement and wished them success in their future endeavours. He stressed that the NAO would continue to invest in human cadres and national competencies and enhance technical, logistical and technological expertise.
H.E. advised all NAO employees to expand their experience and further refine their skills, and encouraged them to benefit from the NAO’s qualification and training programs for their own advantage and to advance the NAO’s work and the audit profession in general.
The NAO pays great attention to providing ongoing training and professional qualification courses for its employees through projects and programmes that comply with the international audit standards issued by the International Organization for Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), to strengthen their professional and technical capacities.
The NAO runs a professional development program via a scholarship system for its staff to obtain one of the internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA, (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant). In July 2023, 43 employees, or 43% of the technical staff, held professional qualifications.
For their part, colleagues Isa and Marwa expressed their delight with their achievement and praised the support provided by the NAO which enabled them to obtain this important qualification. They added that they would continue to enhance their skills and strengthen their professional and technical expertise.
Isa Bashook, who holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance, joined the National Audit Office in 2018 as an assistant auditor and advanced to senior auditor in the Regulatory Audit Directorate, while Marwa Husain, who holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and banking, started working as an assistant auditor at the NAO in 2019 and currently works as a senior auditor in the Performance Audit Directorate.
