Manama – National Audit Office:
Around 73 employees from the Ministries of Interior, Works, Labor, Transport and Communications, the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, and the General Sports Authority attended 4 training courses organized by the National Audit Office (NAO). In addition, 20 training staff and students at the College of Business Administration and Accounting attended an introductory session for the University College of Bahrain.
These courses aimed at developing the audit skills of the employees in entities subject to the NAO’s audit and introducing them to systematic ways of dealing with the NAO’s reports. They were conducted by specialized trainers at the NAO: Ms. May Ali Al-Khulaif, Audit Manager at the Regularity Audit Department, Ms. Zahra Hassan Almezaal, Audit Manager at the Performance Audit Department, Ms. Maryam Ebrahim Taleb, Audit Manager at the Administrative Audit Department, Ms. Ameera Ahmed Madan, Audit Manager at the Regularity Audit Department, Mr. Mohamed Issa Alaradi, Audit Manager at the Administrative Audit Department, Mr. Abdulrahman Mohamed Husain, Audit Manager at the Regularity Audit Department, and Ms. Amina Saleh Aldoser, Senior Auditor at the Regularity Audit Department.
The first session discussed performance and compliance audits conducted by the NAO. It included the definition of these audit types, their areas and stages of implementation, while the second session discussed the systematic way of dealing with NAO's reports, focusing on the work methodology, observations and recommendations, and how to deal with audit violations.
The third and fourth sessions dealt with regularity audits carried out by the NAO, how to deal with reports, including auditing revenues and expenditures, procurement and contracts, stores and fixed assets, and enhancing skills in detecting financial fraud and serious administrative violations.
Furthermore, during an introductory session, the students at the University College of Bahrain learnt about the NAO’s institutional role, its administrative methods and the organizational and administrative tasks and audit work in the national institutions and official authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In cooperation with audited entities, the NAO participated in the National Anti-Corruption Campaign Forum organized by the Anti-Corruption Crimes Department of the Ministry of Interior, which aimed to enhance integrity and anti-corruption among participants from government sectors and private companies and enhance awareness on the importance of tackling corruption, coinciding with the International Anti-Corruption Day, which falls on December 9.
Mr. Salah Saleh Alyafeai, Director of the Administrative Audit Department, discussed the procedures followed by the NAO regarding the most important violations that are monitored during audit missions, while Mr. Mohamed Issa Alaradi, Mr. Ishaq Abdulaziz Alqaed and Shaikh Salman bin Duaij bin Salman Alkhalifa participated in the forum.
