His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Deputy Auditor General at the National Audit Office (NAO), participated in the twenty-third meeting of the Undersecretaries of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which was held via video conference.
The meeting discussed the draft strategic training plan for the next three years (2023-2025), which was prepared by the NAO of the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as the training plan for the year 2023.
Participants were briefed on the results of the fifth competition of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Research and Studies in the field of auditing and accounting, the final drafts of the updated joint manuals on “Auditing Oil and Gas entities”, “Pre-monitoring” and “Auditing Zakat and tax Revenues” and the preparations for the draft agenda of the 19th meeting of the Heads of SAIs of the GCC to be held on the 24th of October 2022 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The draft training plan for 2023 includes 5 programs: "Indicators for Measuring the Performance of Internal Audit Units", "Audit of the Health Sector", "Developments in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)", "Present-day Auditing in the Age of Technology" and "Performance Assessment of Strategic Plans".
The fifth GCC for Research and Studies competition in the field of auditing and accounting included 3 topics: "Automation of audit work and its role in developing performance", which was won by Somaia Saleh Almeer and Maryam Ebrahim Taleb from the NAO of Bahrain, "The Role of Audit entities in Auditing in Times of Emergency Crises", and "Performance Audit of Sustainable Development Goals".
In addition to His Excellency the Undersecretary, the following representatives from the NAO attended the meeting: Aysha Adam, Director of Human and Financial Resources and Yusuf Almahmood, International Cooperation Superintendent.
