Training in cooperation with regional and international organizations.
Manama – National Audit Office:
During the month of November, the National Audit Office (NAO) participated in a series of internal and external training courses and workshops in cooperation with Gulf, regional and international organizations that benefited employees from various NAO departments.
This comes as part of the NAO’s training plan to enhance its institutional capabilities, raise the efficiency of its employees, and keep them informed of the latest updates and developments related to auditing.
The NAO participated in a training course on "Comparative Experiences in the Field of Government Governance", organized by the General Secretariat of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) in cooperation with the State Audit Institution of the Sultanate of Oman.
Participants learnt about advanced practices in public sector governance, how governance contributes to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector and the challenges of implementing governance in the public sector.
A range of topics were discussed, including an introduction to public sector governance, related standards and manuals, its contribution to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector, and the challenges in implementing governance in the public sector.
Experiences when applying public sector governance and the relationship between the regulatory system and its role in governance applications in the public sector were presented and reviewed.
In addition, the NAO participated in a training course on government procurement governance (e-platform as a model), organized by ARABOSAI in cooperation with the General Court of Audit of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The course introduced participants to the concepts and importance of government procurement governance, its objectives, the uses of the unified website for state procurement, enhancing transparency and accountability for state procurement, supporting digital transformation in governance, the entities and groups benefiting from it, its integration with other government systems, the risks and challenges of activating the unified website and opportunities to develop it.
Furthermore, employees from the NAO attended a training course on "Fraud Detection Skills in the Field of Tenders" held by ARABOSAI in cooperation with the State Audit Bureau of the State of Kuwait.
Participants were trained in the best fraud detection methodologies at the various tender stages and procedures to enhance the importance and efficiency of prior, accompanying and post-tender audit, and they learnt about the best practices to prevent fraud in tenders and contracts during tender documents preparation, technical and financial evaluation, awards of contracts and amendments to concluded contracts.
Moreover, the NAO participated in conferences, exhibitions and specialized programs in the field of information technology, including: GITEX World Exhibition 2025 in its 45th edition, organized by the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) in the United Arab Emirates, and the Arab International Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition (AICS 2025) in its 3rd edition, organized by the National Cyber Security Center in collaboration with DEF CON and in partnership with The National Program for the Preparation of Cyber Awareness Professionals in preparation for the launch of the National Cybersecurity Strategy (2025-2028).
These conferences were the most prominent and largest events for technology, digital transformation, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence in the region, and came within the framework of the NAO's endeavor to keep its employees informed about the latest technological innovations and digital solutions. Employees had the opportunity to interact with experts and specialists in artificial intelligence and smart digital solutions and learn from their knowledge and experience.
