The National Audit Office (NAO) participated in a webinar on auditing the oil sector, organized by the State Audit Bureau of the State of Kuwait.
The following employees represented the NAO at the webinar: Senior Audit Manager Mohamed Kadry, Audit Supervisor Abdulrahman M. Husain, and Auditor Mohamed Aldallal.
The virtual meeting discussed audit plans for the operations and accounts of oil companies, audit procedures used in auditing oil authorities, and the most important observations related to drilling, production and refining operations.
Procedure manuals for examining contracts, purchases and capital projects were briefly explained as well as the most important audit notes related to them which are included in audit reports. Furthermore, the webinar provided details on how to acquire the experience, skills and on-the-job training needed for oil sector auditors.
In addition, the webinar discussed the mechanism for the entities subject to audit on how to deal with reports and observations and the process for preparing the annual report. Participating Supreme Audit Institutions also presented their experiences of auditing oil and gas authorities.
