Visit to Bahrain for Meetings on INTOSAI Professional Standards.

His Excellency Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), discussed with His Excellency Mr. Antonio Anastasia, Minister at the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil, the strengthening of relations, cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of audit for the benefit of the two friendly countries.

This came during a meeting at H.E. the Auditor General’s office this morning, with H.E. Minister Anastasia, who is currently visiting Bahrain for meetings of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), which focus on the new strategic plan for the development of INTOSAI professional standards, developing new standards and updating existing ones.

The meeting touched on INTOSAI’s important role for auditors and accountants, especially with regard to setting professional standards that help supreme audit institutions (SAIs) enhance performance and accomplish tasks accurately and professionally.

H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed and H.E. Minister Antonio Anastasia praised the progress of Bahraini-Brazilian relations in various fields and expressed their commitment to further enhance these good relations.

It is noteworthy that the NAO is hosting the 5-day INTOSAI meetings with 33 participants from 15 countries: Bahrain, the United States of America, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Brazil, India, South Africa, Guatemala and Nepal, with representatives from the African Organisation of English-Speaking Supreme Audit Organisations (AFROSAI-E), the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), and the European Court of Auditors.

The bilateral meeting was attended by H.E. Daniella C. Chaves, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and Mr. Cláudio Souto Maior Gomes, auditor at the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts.
