Manama – The National Audit Office:
HE Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), stressed the importance of digital transformation, technological development and artificial intelligence in all sectors to keep pace with global developments to ensure competitiveness of institutions.
He explained that this applied to the rapidly developing auditing and accounting sector which experienced the application of modern technological programs and artificial intelligence techniques that save time, effort and money, and were more accurate.
During the opening of the "Digital Transformation" conference organized by the Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, HE indicated that the NAO had adopted programs to ensure digital technology was used in its services and operations and that its employees were trained respectively in order to follow the technological development of the Kingdom of Bahrain in line with the vision of the country’s government.
HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed reviewed the NAO’s procedures in that context, the type of programs and systems used, and cyber security issues.
At the national level, he explained that the Kingdom of Bahrain was a pioneer among the countries of the world in digital transformation and communication, and that it invested in strong technological protection and cybersecurity. He noted that the concerned authorities have launched many initiatives and projects aimed at supporting the growth of the digital development in various sectors in line with the Kingdom's Economic Vision 2030.
"It is well known that the Kingdom of Bahrain occupies a leading regional position in the digital transformation of the government sector through the launch of its e-government strategy, which aims to enable government agencies to develop services and simplify procedures to provide citizens and residents with a better life," he added and noted the Kingdom's high ranking in that field according to global indicators.
Established in 1985, the Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India currently has 450 members and is the largest professional organization of the Indian community in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
