39 training courses and webinars in 2020.
Last year, the staff of the National Audit Office (NAO) attended around 39 virtual training courses and webinars: 27 were organized internally by the NAO and the rest by international organizations.
The number of employees participating in these courses and sessions that discussed various audit topics and audit work issues in view of the Corona pandemic (COVID-19) reached about 119 from different directorates within the NAO.
The NAO pays great attention to the training and qualification of its employees and to raising their technical and professional skills through regularly implemented plans and programmes. The NAO prepares and trains its employees before the start of their audit work. It integrates them into the work environment and familiarizes them with the relevant details and procedures.
The NAO runs a development programme for its employees to help them obtain internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting, such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant). Around 43 NAO employees benefited from this programme so far.
In connection with this, the NAO recently conducted training for its employees, which briefed them on applicable laws and the latest regulations and work methods to maintain the quality of performance and level of output.
The 5-day programme included an overview of the NAO’s law, applicable regulations, work standards, its audit tasks and audit mandate.
It introduced the stages and details of auditing, from planning various audit tasks, through their implementation, to preparing and issuing reports while addressing automated programmes used in the auditing process.
The program was conducted by trainers from the regularity, performance, and administrative audit directorates as well as the human and financial resources directorate, legal affairs, the public relations and international cooperation directorate and the information systems directorate.
