Female employees of the National Audit Office (NAO) stated that dedicating this year’s celebration of Bahraini Women’s Day to the important part of Bahraini women in the national development confirms their role as key partner in the Kingdom’s development process and their competence which let them assume leadership positions in various fields.

They commented on the qualitative and pioneering advancement of Bahraini women in various fields during the prosperous reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, thanks to the great efforts of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council For Women, who led the Council’s work for the last 20 years and who directed its initiatives towards the establishment and protection of women’s rights, most notably equal opportunities and gender balance in public and private institutions.

They emphasized that the theme of this year's celebration (Bahraini women in national development...a path of advancement in a giving country) reflects Bahrain’s supportive environment for women over the years. As one of the first countries in the region, the Kingdom provided women with the opportunity to enroll in formal education at the beginning of the century and offered various fields of work to everyone without discrimination.

The female employees indicated that since its establishment, the NAO adopted a clear approach to empowering women and that it ensured the equal opportunities principle was applied and gender balance was achieved in all areas of its work.

Currently, women make up 46% of the NAO’s total workforce, while 21% are in leadership positions and 53% hold supervisory positions.
