His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammad Al Khalifa, stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership with various government bodies and agencies and applying the latest best practices in auditing.

More than 150 employees from 55 government agencies ended a seminar on the importance of internal audit organized by the National Audit Office (NAO) with the participation of specialists from local and international institutions.

The two-day symposium discussed 11 working papers on NAO’s work procedures and processes, the most important developments and latest practices in internal audit and international standards in the audit field.

NAO Auditor-General, His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammad Al Khalifa, stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership with various government bodies and agencies and applying the latest best practices in auditing.

He indicated that NAO already works with various bodies on programs to ensure that the latest standards in managing and safeguarding public funds are applied.

The symposium aimed at raising awareness of the importance of internal auditing and at strengthening the cooperation between NAO and the relevant authorities to achieve further integration in audit work.

His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed stated that NAO plans to launch further programs on proper management of public funds, noting the possibility of organizing a symposium for employees in the legal sector, to discuss audit concepts from a legal perspective and international best practices in this the field.

"The National Audit Office has been operating for 16 years, and we must develop systems that keep pace with the latest developments in international practices in the audit sector and ensure more efficiency in performing audit tasks." His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed concluded by thanking all participants of the symposium for their attendance. 

The seminar targeted employees from internal and financial audit departments as well as financial resources sections within government bodies and agencies subject to NAO’ audit, while specialists and experts from the University of Bahrain, the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (BIBF) and international companies such as Deloitte and Touche, Ernst and Young, PWC and KPMG, in addition to NAO trainers attended the lecture.
