Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed: Developing professional capabilities of National Audit Office staff.
His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), praised the NAO’s employees who seek to develop their professional competencies and technical skills through internationally accredited professional qualifications.
His Excellency encouraged all employees of the NAO to acquire more expertise, refine their skills and take advantage of the qualification and training programs provided by the NAO for their own benefit and for the benefit of the NAO’s work and the audit profession in general.
This came when His Excellency congratulated this morning in his office Amina Saleh Abbas Aldoseri, auditor at the Regulatory Audit Directorate, on obtaining her professional qualification as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Fatema Mahmood Mohamed Hassan, auditor at the Performance Audit Directorate, on obtaining her professional qualification from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He wished them every success for their future.
The CIA certification is granted by the Institute of Internal Auditors in the United States of America (IIA), and the (ACCA) certification by the British Association of Certified Public Accountants.
His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed stressed the NAO's keenness to invest in human cadres and national competencies, develop the capabilities of its employees and support them to obtain internationally recognized professional qualifications, which was reflected in the level of performance and services provided.
The NAO pays great attention to providing ongoing training and professional qualification courses for its employees through projects and programmes that comply with the international audit standards issued by the International Organization for Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) to strengthen their professional and technical capacities.
The NAO runs a professional development program via a scholarship system for its staff to obtain one of the internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA, (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant).
Until the beginning of November this year, the NAO had 44 professionally qualified technical employees which constitutes about 44% of the total technical work force at the NAO.
Amina and Fatema, who joined the General Bureau in 2020 as assistant auditors, said that they were happy with their achievements and appreciated the support provided by the NAO which enabled them to obtain those important qualifications. They stressed that they would continue to develop their professional and technical skills.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Mr. Fayeq Dhaif, Deputy Auditor General Financial and Performance Audit, Mr. Majeed Makki, Assistant Auditor General Regularity Audit and Mr. Qasim Almadhoob, Assistant Auditor General Performance Audit.
