Manama – The National Audit Office:

H.E. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), stressed that the NAO would continue to develop the technical capabilities of its employees through the qualification and training programs provided by the NAO to obtain internationally accredited professional qualifications. He called on all employees to keep up with the latest developments in auditing and accounting and gain more experience and knowledge especially in technology and artificial intelligence (AI), which would be of great importance in the near future.

This came during a reception held on Thursday morning where he congratulated Mr. Salah Saleh Alyafeai, Administrative Audit Director, on obtaining the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certificate from the Association of Certified Fraud Investigators (ACFE), and Mr. Ahmed Yousef Al Shuail, Auditor at the Regulatory Audit Directorate, and Mr. Husain Mohammed Alghasra, Assistant Auditor at the Performance Audit Directorate, on obtaining the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). He wished them every success in their further career development.

The NAO pays great attention to providing ongoing training and professional qualification courses for its employees through projects and programmes that comply with the international audit standards issued by the International Organization for Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) to strengthen their professional and technical skills.

In addition, the NAO runs a vocational qualification program for its staff through a scholarship system to obtain one of the internationally accredited professional qualifications in auditing and accounting such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA, (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CMA (Certified Management Accountant). Up until this May, 50 employees constituting 48% of NAO’s technical staff have professional qualifications.

For their part, the colleagues attributed their success and the ability to obtain these certificates to the support provided by the NAO through development programs to enhance professional and technical skills at various levels.

The meeting was attended by H.E. the Deputy Auditor General for Financial and Performance Audit, Mr. Fayeq Ali Dhaif, H.E. the Assistant Auditor General for Performance Audit, Mr. Qassim Ahmed Almadhoob, and the Assistant Auditor General for Regulatory Audit, Mrs. Basma Abdul Rahman Alahmed.
